A cozy, casserole-style Amish hamburger steak bake featuring juicy beef patties and creamy mushroom gravy — classic comfort food in one dish.

  • lbs ground beef (80/20)

  • 1 egg

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • ¾ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp pepper

  • 2 cans (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

  • ½ cup milk

  • Optional: sautéed onions or mushrooms

  • Optional toppings: cheddar, crispy onions, shredded potatoes

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • In a bowl, combine beef, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire, and seasonings. Form into 4–6 patties.

  • Optional: brown patties in a skillet 2–3 minutes per side.

  • In another bowl, mix soup and milk. Add mushrooms or onions if using.

  • Place patties in dish and pour gravy over the top. Add toppings if desired.

  • Cover with foil and bake for 35–40 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 more minutes until bubbly.

  • Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
