A cozy, casserole-style Amish hamburger steak bake featuring juicy beef patties and creamy mushroom gravy — classic comfort food in one dish.
1½ lbs ground beef (80/20)
1 egg
½ cup breadcrumbs
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
¾ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
2 cans (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
½ cup milk
Optional: sautéed onions or mushrooms
Optional toppings: cheddar, crispy onions, shredded potatoes
Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a bowl, combine beef, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire, and seasonings. Form into 4–6 patties.
Optional: brown patties in a skillet 2–3 minutes per side.
In another bowl, mix soup and milk. Add mushrooms or onions if using.
Place patties in dish and pour gravy over the top. Add toppings if desired.
Cover with foil and bake for 35–40 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 more minutes until bubbly.
Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
