Easy Beef and Broccoli Recipe (Better Than Takeout!)

A quick and easy beef and broccoli stir-fry with tender beef, crisp broccoli, and a rich garlic-soy sauce. Ready in under 30 minutes and better than takeout!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (for marinade)

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (for marinade)

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp oil, for cooking

  • 3 cups broccoli florets

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced

Stir-Fry Sauce:

  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 2 tsp cornstarch

  • ⅓ cup water or broth

Instructions

  1. Marinate beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Set aside 15 minutes.

  2. Mix sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside.

  3. Optional: Blanch broccoli for 1–2 minutes and drain.

  4. Heat oil in a pan over high heat. Sear beef in batches until browned. Remove from pan.

  5. Add garlic and ginger to the pan. Sauté for 30 seconds.

  6. Add broccoli and beef back to the pan. Pour in sauce and toss.

  7. Cook 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens. Finish with a drizzle of sesame oil.
