These Cajun Chicken Sloppy Joes are a zesty twist on a classic — made with ground chicken, bell peppers, bold Cajun spices, and a tangy tomato-based sauce, all served on toasted buns.
1 tbsp butter or olive oil
1 lb ground chicken
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 bell pepper, diced
3–4 garlic cloves, minced
1½ tbsp Cajun seasoning
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 tbsp tomato paste
⅓ cup ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1–2 tsp hot sauce (optional)
¼ cup water or broth
4 burger buns, toasted
Heat butter/oil in a skillet. Sauté onion and bell pepper for 4–5 minutes. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds more.
Add ground chicken, Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned.
Stir in tomato paste, ketchup, Worcestershire, and hot sauce. Add water and simmer 5 minutes until thick.
Toast buns and spoon filling onto each. Serve hot with desired toppings.
