Bold, spicy, and saucy Cajun chicken sloppy joes served on toasted buns — a quick and flavorful twist on a classic sandwich, perfect for weeknight meals or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 1 bell pepper, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tsp Cajun seasoning

  • 1 tbsp tomato paste (optional)

  • ¾ cup tomato sauce

  • ¼ cup ketchup

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp brown sugar

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • 4 sandwich buns, toasted

  • Optional: pickles, cheese, jalapeños for topping

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a skillet. Add onion and bell pepper; sauté 5–6 minutes.

  • Add garlic and cook 1 minute. Add ground chicken and cook until browned.

  • Stir in Cajun seasoning and tomato paste; cook 1 minute.

  • Add tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar.

  • Simmer uncovered for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Toast buns and spoon the mixture on top. Add desired toppings and serve.
